Baby Arizona is a simple, faster way for pregnant women to start getting health
care before the application process for AHCCCS health insurance is complete.
AHCCCS is part of the State of Arizona and its first care is your healthcare. AHCCCS
provides health insurance to more than one-million Arizonans who need assistance
getting medical services for themselves, their children, or other members of their
family.
Who should apply for Baby Arizona?
Pregnant women who:
- Live in Arizona
- Have little or no income
- Are United States citizens or qualified non-citizens.
How do I start the application process?
-
Call the Pregnancy and Breast Feeding Hotline at 1-800-833-4642.
-
Choose a doctor near you and call to make an appointment for a prenatal (pregnancy)
visit. Ask the doctor’s office what you should bring with you for the Baby Arizona
application process.
-
At your first visit, the office staff will help you with your Baby Arizona application
for AHCCCS health insurance.
-
Make your next appointment for a prenatal (pregnancy) visit.
The application process should be 20 working days from the time the complete application
is received at DES. You may receive prenatal care sooner, depending on a doctor's
office schedule.
If you do not qualify for AHCCCS health insurance, the doctor’s office should set-up
a reasonable payment plan for your prenatal services and should continue to care
for you and your baby.
